Dave Hinton
Drums

“English”
Dave Hinton brings not only his British sense of humor but a wealth of
playing experience gained in the UK. From duos to big band,
R&B, soul, dance band, jazz and other styles, Dave has learned to have
fun and please the guy who pays at the end of the night!
“I’ve been
playing drums since I was eleven and over the years have had the honor to
play in some pretty neat places. The Royal Albert Hall, in London, certainly ranks up there as
special. My time as a musician in the British Army gave me the opportunity
to play there twice.”
As an avid listener of
radio, Dave heard a new band in the early ‘60’s called
“The Beatles”. “They gave a concert at a local cinema in
1963 with Roy Orbison, and I didn’t go! What an idiot! [May 28th 1963, Gaumont, Worcester, UK.]
Mind you, I’m not
sure I would have enjoyed listening to all those young fans screaming at
the tops of their voices! Funny thing is, years later, when the cinema
closed and was sold to a company who now run it as a Bingo Hall, I got to
play on the very same stage; just an organist and me playing tunes between
bingo sessions and no screaming fans!”
“I’m having
a blast in the 96.5 House Band, playing many of the tunes I used to listen
to, and play, as a teenager.”
If you hail from the UK, be sure
to say hi to Dave at one of our gigs. He’d love to reminisce about
fish and chips and brown sauce!
